Shared Wisdom: Some More Pearls From Others

I read pearls of wisdom that others have written because they serve me well and enhance and/or confirm any wisdom I may have acquired over the years.  I also love to read how others express themselves through their different writing styles.  So let me share some more words from other wonderful people.

“Edge your days with prayer; they are less likely to unravel.”  (Unknown)

“There’s not a thing in the world I can do to make you love me, but I also realize there’s not a thing in the world I can do to stop you from loving me.” (Sheila Walsh)

“When we know that we are worthy of love, we no longer need to engage in a profusion of activities designed to prove our worthiness to ourselves or to others. Our inner sense of worth enables us to give love without demands or expectations, thereby creating the pathway through which love spontaneously returns to us.  Grace unfolds in our lives and we are naturally drawn toward events and circumstances to which we can contribute our energy and attention.” (Paul Ferrini)

“A burden, even a small one, when carried alone and in isolation can destroy us, but a burden when carried as part of God’s burden can lead us to new life.” (Henri Nouwen)

“The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.” (Chinese Proverb)

“Are you on the eve of change?  Embrace it.  Accept it.  Don’t resist it.  Change is not only a part of life, change is also a necessary part of God’s strategy.  To use us to change the world, he alters our assignments.”  (Max Lucado)

“I have many friends who do not believe in luck; they believe in blessings.  Likewise, I do not believe in coincidences; I believe in miracles.” (Jane Seymour)

“Grace is what God gives us when we don’t deserve it, and mercy is when God doesn’t give us what we deserve.” (Anonymous)

“Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you also have the obligation to be one.” (Eleanor Roosevelt)

And I can’t think of a better way or a better person’s quote to close up today’s posting on wisdomSmile.

Shared Wisdom: Breaking The Silence

If there is one way that I think I can break through the Muse’s absence it is to share some wisdom from other writers.  Perhaps surrounding myself with the written words from other’s Muses will help me to stir up my own words as I struggle once again in a sea of creative silence.  So I gather up the myriad scraps of paper from around my desk and my bedside table and pick a few to share with you.  And as I do so, I am hoping to open the flood gates of my own words which are momentarily locked away inside my heart.

“For those who believe in Jesus Christ, there is no sorrow that is not mixed with hope.” (Van Gogh)

“Guidance comes when you are feeling relaxed and peaceful.  Gradually, you learn to trust the wisdom that comes to you in this relaxed, peaceful state, to speak the words you are guided to say, and to take
the actions you are inwardly directed to take, even if you don’t fully understand why you are being asked to take them.” (Paul Ferrini)

“Laughter is the sun that drives winter away.” (Anonymous)

“Do not walk behind me. I may not lead.
Do not walk in front of me. I may not follow.
Just walk beside me, and be my friend.” (Camus)

“We look forward to the time when the power of love will replace the love of power.  Then will our world know the blessing of peace.” (William Gladstone)

“Millions of spiritual creatures walk the earth unseen, both when we wake and when we sleep.” (John Milton)

“Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.” (Charles Spurgeon)

“We are often so caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet along the way.” (Anonymous)

“I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” (George Washington Carver)

“It’s not just what we do but what we don’t do for which we are accountable for.” (Moliere)

I may just have to share some more wisdom from others for a few days in order to get my own creative juices flowing again.  And, as I close this writing, I am just having a “ta-da” moment: supposing I asked God to help me instead of sitting in miserable apathy – light bulb. Maybe my soul is beginning to resurrect. See you on the pages!

Shared Wisdom: Collected Works

Although my creative Muse was on vacation or dormant for the last couple of months, scraps of paper with scribbled words still accumulated on my desk, in my handbag, and in the car.  All carried words of wisdom that somehow continue to make their way to me.  I’ve decided that one of my missions in life seems to be to share as much collective and collectable wisdom as I can.  So here’s the latest and the greatest!

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life, by what we give.”                                                                 Sir Winston Churchill

“You and I share the serenity of understanding – a warm glow in the silences between us.  When we have talked and
talked and come to the end of words, the speech of our hearts continues on…………                                                  Anonymous

“If I have achieved anything in my life it is because I have not been embarrassed to talk about God.”                             Jim Forest

“If you wish to travel far, travel light.  Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fear.”               Cesare Pavese

“Your spiritual growth does not happen when you are peaceful and content.  It happens when you get angry, sad,
greedy, jealous, critical, impatient.  It happens when you lose your “spiritual mask” and realize that you are not
superman or –woman, but just an ordinary human being learning how to love.”                                                          Paul Ferrini

“No matter what age you are, or what your circumstances might be, you are special, and you still have
something unique to offer.  Your life, because of who you are, has meaning.”                                                           Barbara De Angelis

“The lure of the distant and difficult is deceptive.  The great opportunity is where you are.”                                         John Burroughs

“You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true.  You may have to work
  for it, however.”                                                                                                                                            Richard Bach

“Woman must come of age by herself ………. She must find her true center alone.”                                                       Ann Morrow Lindbergh

“Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain.  An occasional glance towards the summit keeps
the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.”                                   Harold B. Melchart

“Happiness exists more in small conveniences or pleasures that occur every day than in great pieces
of good fortune that happen but seldom in the course of life.”                                                                                Benjamin Franklin

Here’s to the next time.  May I wish you all a peaceful, healthy, abundant and joy-filled 2012!
