Poetry: Your Love

 

It is fitting that the first poem I share here is dedicated to my husband, Richard.  Over the 25 years of our marriage he has encouraged and supported me unconditionally as I have travelled all the paths that my spiritual and personal growth have taken me.  It has been quite a ride at times with strange detours and unexpected twists and turns.  He is not only my husband, he is also my lover, my friend, my companion, and my spiritual partner.  I am grateful for his presence in my life.

Vignettes: Gratitude in Central Park, NYC

The sun was dappling through the trees in Central Park, and sparkled on the waters of the pond. Families were spread out on picnic blankets enjoying the warm spring day. Couples sauntered hand in hand, stopping now and then to kiss. A few bikinis dotted the grass here and there as bodies eagerly soaked up the pre-summer sun. And exercise-conscious people jogged and walked around the lake while others cycled or roller skated on the designated pathways.

Gratitude: A Way Of Life

There was a time in my life when, if I ever thought about it at all, gratitude was the stuff of saints and martyrs.  Don’t get me wrong.  I said my “thank you’s” as I was taught, but the underlying reason was usually selfish.  I didn’t want to be considered bad mannered; if I said thank you for this (whatever gift/favor), then I might get more.  You get the picture.
