Self Nurturing: Massage

In my opening blog post back in April this year (Taking Care of Spirit, Body, and Mind), I talked about the importance of taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.  Something that I do with as much frequency as my wallet allows is to receive a massage.  Although massage is a very physical mode of therapy, if you find the right massage therapist and if you approach massage with an open heart and mind, then you will also be taking care of yourself on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

Vignette: Remembering Cindy

 

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 5.45am today.  I am not an easy morning person.  Once I am up and get going then I am okay.  It’s  the clawing my way up out of sleep and letting go of the sheer wonderfulness of being snuggled up that I find hard.  But I really want to create a routine for Thursday mornings; going to 8am Mass followed by a special Rosary with a small group.

Poetry & Shared Wisdom

I really enjoy the writings of Maya Angelou.  One of my favorite pieces is an extraordinary poem that she wrote about a phenomenal woman – and she is!  When I read it I feel so much better about myself.  I want to walk taller and prouder.  I feel as though she is writing about me.  As James Brown said: “I feel good.”
