Poetry: Words Painting Pictures

 

 

Words have always fascinated me.  The way they march across a page creating people, places, and life stories, or laying down facts and information, excites me to the core.  I curl up with pleasure at the sight or sound of certain words while others have the power to chill me to the bone.

Italy: My Soul Home

I have lived for about thirty years in Italy.  The very first visit to that country was to Genoa in December 1963.  All I can say is that when I deplaned and my feet touched the tarmac, my soul came home.

I eventually came to live in Italy in 1969.  My first home was in a place called Santa Margherita di Pula located in the southern region of the island of Sardinia.  This island captured my heart.  The sea is turquoise, the beaches are pristine, the rocks are unbelievable, the people are delightful, and the food is incredibly good.

Poetry: Awakening to the World

These are some poems that I wrote as I became aware of the world around me.  They were written during the period 1979 – 1981.  There were many things changing in my life at that time, the most important being an emerging of my heart and soul from a very dark place.  Up until that moment in time I had lived a very selfish, egotistical life and noticed very little outside my own personal desires.
